PowerBook 12" Link
This is my first notebook. Before I really did not think I needed them.
This is also the first Mac I used MacOS X with. I had left the Mac platform just before Apple sold the first MacOS X Public Beta. I needed a Unix platform to develope with and althought MacOS X Public Beta was a Unix platform, I did not considere it and switched to GNU/Linux and FreeBSD.
In fact the first usable MacOS X is MacOS X 10.2 Jaguar. The one I found with the pb 12", the first one I used. Probably had I used older versions I would have been so disappointed that I would not have switched back.
Later I bought MacOS X Panther, which is a great improvement on Jaguar, and MacOS X Tiger. And apart from some juvenile problems is a great improvement on Panther.
The amazing thing is that Panther runs faster than Jaguar, and Tiger runs faster than Panther. Usually it does not happen with commercial systems. In fact buying a new MacOS X version instead of ageing your current Mac, does make it quicker. Good.
Tiger is fully usable with the PowerBook 12", even if some features (eg. CoreImage) are not supported. In fact CoreImage is not GPU supported: the CPU does the job.
Please note that the monitor, even it's old, it is much better than many modern PC monitors, even if they cost a lot of money.
